And now for something completely different...I took a small vacation from landscapes and painted these studies of Celina Zambon from a video I found on youtube.
For this reason they're for fun, not for sale.

2008 Field Studies
The best way to study the qualities of landscape: light, atmosphere, space, form, etc. is to paint on location.  All of these studies were painted on location in and around Southern Utah.  Most of the studies are small; between 6x8 in. and 8x10 in.

2006-2008 Landscapes
I used to think of this view as being the backside of Timpanogus, but I've decided that term is not politically correct for those who live in Heber. Besides, the true backside of Timp is unable to be seen because she's lying on it. While doing this painting and considering these notions, I decided the most appropriate label for this view of Timp is to call it her "Eastern side". After following a really rough dirt road for a few hours I came to this spectacular vista. With views like this it is very tempting to try to paint the whole; instead I decided to focus on just one part: the head of Timpanogus.

This was the last painting of the competition done just a few blocks from the town hall where the exhibition took place.

I was at the airport and I had three hours to turn in this panel so I was hoping to find something interesting. I began painting a dull composition involving a Cessna when this magnificent machine dropped out of the sky, taxied over to within 50 ft. of me, turned to a 3/4 view, and parked just as you see it in the photograph. All my stuff was already set up in the right spot, I just had to turn my easel 90 degrees to the right. Two hours later the pilot had to move the plane, but I had just finished the painting. Hence the title "Manna from Heaven". This painting later won an award at the competition and was donated to the Heber Commemorative Airforce Museum.
